Today we were mainly driving. We visited just a little bit in Goteborg before we were on the road again - Destination: Skien, Norway. We saw some beautiful landscape on the 4-hour drive. We developed a serious attitude towards our British Siri today - she sent us on a couple of circle tours and left us scratching our heads. But we reached our destination hotel for the evening. So nothing too extravagant to share today -- just some beautiful Scandinavian countryside (please excuse the guardrails).
Oh --- AND --- we found out where marshmallows come from --- they are grown here in Norway!! Seriously!!! And they're HUGE!
The picture below was taken just after 4 a.m. -- it starts getting light very early up here. When we were in Iceland at the end of May - it was ALWAYS light outside no matter what time it was.
John took this great picture of the hotel upon returning from our stroll around Goteborg this morning.
We're on our way again - they build bridges incredibly high in these countries.
These suspension bridges are works of engineering art to me.
Some stunning countryside:
Wildlife crossings are numerous in Scandinavia. It would be nice to see these more in the U.S.
Lupines are the Scandinavian wildflower. They are everywhere and are so pretty!
WE FOUND FIELDS OF MARSHMALLOWS!!!!
LOLOL!!
HELLO NORWAY
Will they let us in????
Yep, they did! 😉😉😉
Part of our trip we needed to ferry across. Boy, this particular ferry was the 5-star luxury kind. Had a kitchen on board serving food (for a price), had a playroom for the kids, Wi-Fi, comfortable chairs and a dining area. The 48 minute ride went quick.
Always good to know where this piece of equipment is on a boat. 😀
Crossing the Oslofjord
Bridge building
Countryside scenery without the guardrails
We've arrived!!!
Time to head to the pizzeria for supper.
Haven't had pizza since May!!
